ZOM-IN MCO Stories #2 — Direct-Selling at Drive-Thru

  April 28, 2020

This happened during the first phase of MCO.

After days staying at home, I drove out to a Starbucks Drive-Thru to get my caffeine fix. While waiting for my coffee, an aunty carrying a big bag of keropok waved at me and pointed at the keropok, encouraging me to get some keropok.

I was about to refuse her but I thought to myself, would she make any sales at all? I mean, we rarely buy things from direct-sellers even during usual days. Since the MCO started, all the restaurants, mamak stalls and food courts are not accepting consumers to eat-in. Aren’t their lives getting tougher during this period?

So I rolled down the window, asked for one packet and gave her 20 bucks.

While many people are busying sharing pictures of their home-cooked meals, or happily laughing at people’s fails in the “Masak Apa Tak Jadi Hari Ni”, there are also many marginalised communities suffering through this period.

If you’re capable, do look out at people who are less fortunate. Offer a little assistance (whether in monetary or other methods) to help them get through hard times.

Hope everyone is safe and sound.
